Moving!

I’m finally moving. The new apartment is called Kingsbury Apartments at 760 sw vista. No pictures yet, but the street view is pretty indicative. It’s a little bit like a double studio but larger than our apartment now and the bed rolls under the bathroom so it feels very large. There’s lots of windows, a balcony (4th floor view!) and a walk-in closet. We can also get a cat!! We’ll move sometime early November so the excitement is really building.

The Apartment Hunt

Apartment hunt could be over . . . Applied for this beauty on SE 12th along with Barbara, Andy’s newly graduated sister who is becoming a nurse. 1200 sq feet and there’s only four units so the entire bottom left porch would be our’s! So excited!

If I was to get married . . .

which is not yet in the plans, I think I would be over the moon to copy almost everything from Young House Love’s gorgeous backyard wedding. In their own backyard. Young House Love is a great DIY themed blog started by a couple newlyweds documenting their house renovations. They also happened to come up with the brilliant plan of hosting their wedding in their backyard and planning out all the decorations, food and activities with a tight budget in mind. I especially love the lemons and limes throughout and the photo booth they rented. With Andy starting grad school in a couple weeks, our focus is now on getting him through school and staying above water in terms of finances. Luckily, my PSU discount is about 70% off tuition but it’s still going to be a long process. As we have been having a blast living together, neither one of us is in a hurry to get hitched anytime soon. I figure, I’ve let him know the ball is in his court and I’m not too worried about it. Next step for us is finding a new apartment and getting a cat!

My Crazy Neighbor: Part II

Background: It’s the fourth of July holiday weekend. Andy and I are in our pajamas on the couch lounging. We’re been hearing the sounds of moving all morning. Some sounds of talking come from the hallway. We start listening in.

Mother: Hi. I’m sorry if we’re being loud. We’re moving my daughter’s stuff in today. We’ll be going up and down the stairs. She lives in #9.

Crazy Neighbor: Hi. Heard your party last night.

Mother: Um. No? We weren’t here last night.

CN: Well someone was up in that unit having a party. Maybe it was your daughter.

Mother: Well, we just went and picked her up from the airport last night. She hasn’t even been here actually. I have no idea who could have been up there.

CN: Well someone was.

Mother: I’m the only one with a key, so that’s very strange.

CN: Yeah well, it’s a small building so I think I know what I heard.

Mother: Um.

CN: I have to go. *goes back into apartment, closes the door and locks it quickly.

Mother: Oh.

Andy and I go out to check the mail and offer a friendly smile and wave to the mother. Later she knocks on our apartment trying to figure out where the key for the trash bins is kept. Andy helps her and reassures her and her husband that the CN is relatively harmless. I’m not so sure. Apartment search continues.
